Day 6

Well I obviously provided the right conditions and God has done the rest so here are the seeds, planted last Sunday, just starting out their new life.

Day 3 - Norsey Wood

A visit to Norsey Wood last Sunday afternoon was a perfect reminder of the richness of God's creation we have right here on our doorstep. No need to travel miles, just a few minutes away we have this magnificent display of bluebells each spring.
They have flowered early this year following yet another mild winter and warm spring. Is this climate change our responsibility? I wonder?

Day 2

Matthew 13 v 3-8

A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. Other seeds fell amongst thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. Still other seeds fell on good soil, where it produced a crop - a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. He who has ears, let him hear.

A well known parable and one of the first I recall ever hearing in Sunday School many years ago now.

I love this time of year with all the promise of long warm days to enjoy in the garden. Every day sees something new appear and we have so much to thank God for in His beautiful creation.

Day one

Andy and Sue's idea of planting the sunflower seeds they gave us during prayers at the morning service today really caught my interest so as you see I made it a priority when I got home to get on with the job!

A quick chat with Pete Fisher about using photos to track the progress of said seeds over coffee after the service has now turned me into a 'blogger' I have heard about this 'strange' internet activity but this is my first foray into this new world. So far so good - but I must admit I have a lot more experience growing seeds than blogging!

Planting - April 2007

This morning we were invites to take a Sunflower seed home with us and grow it as a reminder to proay through out the summer. At the end the resultant crop will remind us of the good things God supplies.

Here are the first plantings:

We will let you know how they grow.
